Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on:
1) 12 fire drills, 2 shelter-in-place drills, and 1 lockdown drill are required each year
2) The National CPR Foundation is an online program and is not an accepted CPR certification in Virginia as it does not contain a hands-on in-person demonstration component
3) The emergency preparedness plan must contain procedural components for a lockdown drill. Please see updated standards dated: 10/13/2021
4) Children are to be seated at table when eating or drinking
5) Children's records shall include the first date of attendance
6) Staff references taken over the phone shall include: date of contact, name of person contacted, firm/company contacted, results and the signature of the person making the call
7) Staff records shall include the date of hire/employment

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted from 12:00 noon - 2:00 pm with the director and owner. There were 80 children, ranging from 4 months to 5 years of age, present with 14 staff supervising. Children were observed listening to a story, preparing for lunch, eating lunch, preparing for nap, and sleeping. Five children's records, five staff records and two applicant records were reviewed and in compliance. Ten medications, authorization forms and allergy care plans for four children were reviewed and in compliance. Staff have current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT), first aid and CPR. The emergency drill log, written attendance record, written allergy list, fire and health inspections were reviewed.

Description: Based on review of documentation and an interview with staff, the facility failed to maintain a written record of daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs. Evidence: the last documented daily attendance records were from the week dated 4/4/22 - 4/8/22.
