An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 9:05am-10:45am. There were 52 children directly supervised by 13 staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, 3 medications, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in circle time, reading books, learning about frogs, and singing songs. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children and the center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-4 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain for all staff who have lived outside the state of Virginia within the last 5 years a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check prior to the first day of employment or a search request of the child abuse and neglect registry by the 30th day of employment.
Evidence: Staff #4 (Date of Hire: 2/14/2022) indicated on a signed Sworn Disclosure Statement on 2/1/22 and 5/17/22 that they have resided in Pennsylvania and New York within the last 5 years. Staff #4 did not have the results of a Pennsylvania criminal history record information check on file. Staff #4 did not have documentation of a search request of the child abuse and neglect registry for Pennsylvania or New York on file.Plan of Correction: Staff will have TB prior to doing new hire paperwork. Admin will have paperwork in hand.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-160-A-1 Description: Based on record review, the center did not obtain documentation of a negative tuberculosis (TB) screening or test at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children for all staff.
Evidence: Staff #1 (Date of Hire: 5/3/2022) had a TB test on file dated 5/16/2022.Plan of Correction: Out of state checks were sent.
