Technical Assistance:
Today we discussed the careful review of enrollment paperwork before a child attends, to ensure information regarding food allergies or other medical conditions are clarified and questions asked of parents regarding the possibility of the need for medication on site and/or a plan of action for emergencies if applicable.
Sometimes it is not clear whether a child has a sensitivity to a certain food or if it is an actual food allergy. This information should be clarified and clearly documented in the child's record. In the event that a child has a diagnosed food allergy, a written allergy response plan must be obtained, signed by the child's physician, to indicate what actions should be taken should the child ingest the allergen while in care. This plan will often be accompanied by medication - which will require a signed medication authorization from and the presence of the medication on site while the child is in care.

Comments:
A Renewal inspection was initiated and concluded on 6/10/2022. At the time of the inspector's arrival, there were 65 children present, ranging in ages from 5 to 12 years old, with 5 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 4 child records and 4 staff records were reviewed.

The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
