Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Monday June 27, 2022 from approximately 10:05 am to 11:50 am. There were 14 children in attendance and a total of 7 staff present. 5 staff records and 5 children?s records were reviewed. All areas of the center were observed including classrooms, hallways, kitchen, and bathrooms. The children were observed playing with toys, listening to music, playing outside, washing hands, eating snack, and getting their diapers changed while the licensing inspector was on the premises.

Emergency drills and inspections were in compliance. The most recent Health Inspection was on 02/15/2022. The most recent Fire Inspection was on 02/15/2022; Fire Drills are conducted monthly with the most recent on 06/03/2022. Shelter in Place Drills were conducted twice with the most recent on 06/17/2022. The First Aid Kit had all components. The license, current inspection, and evacuation plan were posted and emergency numbers were posted by each phone.

Violations were cited as a result of this inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-A
Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that when a child is placed in a high chair, the protective belt will be fastened securely. Evidence: There were 5 infants sitting in the high chairs being fed snack. 2 of the 5 seats did not contain buckles. When asked, the Director stated that she had the buckles but needed to install them.

Plan of Correction: Per the Director ?we will remind everyone to use the buckles.?

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that areas and equipment of the center were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: There was a 6ft by 3ft solid wood door leaning up against the wall in the preschool classroom that was not secured. When asked, the Director stated that the door was donated by the local fire department and she did not know where to put it.

Plan of Correction: Per the Director "The door will be secured or moved."

Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials were kept in a locked place. Evidence: 1) There were 2 bottles of laundry detergent labeled ?caution? and ?keep out of reach of children? sitting on the floor in front of the washing machine which is located in the preschool classroom and does not have a barrier to prevent access. 2) Unlocked cabinet in preschool bathroom that contained several cleaning agents such as Lysol spray, Clorox wipes, and Microban. 3) There was a bottle of air freshener, labeled ?warning?, and ?keep out of reach of children? sitting on the counter in the preschool bathroom. 4) There was a spray bottle of Microban sitting on the desk in the Toddler/Two?s classroom.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during visit.

Description: Based on observation and interview, the center did not ensure that food brought from home was clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner. Evidence: There were several food containers sitting on the desk in the Toddler/Two?s classroom with no label. When asked, the teacher stated it was for a preschool child?s lunch.

Plan of Correction: Per the Director ?we will remind everyone to label meals.?
