Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards on Wednesday July 20, 2022. The inspection begin at 10:01 AM and concluded at 12:39 PM. The census for today's inspection consisted of 134 children in care and 19 staff supervising. During the tour, the inspector observed the children, coloring, playing with blocks, participating in a science activity, playing on the playground, napping and interacting with peers and staff. The inspector observed all 13 classrooms, playgrounds and restrooms. Staff were observed interacting with children in a positive manner and the inspector interviewed staff and children when time allowed. The classrooms are equipped with age and stage appropriate materials. The center's first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. The required postings were inspected and found to be in compliance. Liability insurance, health inspection, and drills were all in compliance. There were ten children's and 10 staff records reviewed. There were violations cited during this inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-G
Description: Based on record review, The center failed to maintain for 8 of the 10 children in care documentation of viewing proof of the child?s identity and age. Evidence: The proof of identification was missing the verification date.

Plan of Correction: Will fill in dates.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to keep areas and equipment of the center maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Unsafe conditions shall include, but not be limited to, splintered, cracked or otherwise deteriorating wood; chipped or peeling paint; visible cracks, bending or warping, rusting or breakage of any equipment; head entrapment hazards; and protruding nails, bolts or other components that could entangle clothing or snag skin. Evidence: 1) Paint has chipped off the wall in the open play space in the 3 year old Pre-K classroom. 2). Paint has chipped off the wall in the toddler classroom.

Plan of Correction: Put up wallboard.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-570-E
Description: Based on a review of prepared infant formula, the center failed to ensure that prepared infant formula brought to the center was labeled as required. Evidence: 4 of the infant bottles of formula viewed in the refrigerator were not dated with today?s date.

Plan of Correction: Purchase new date stickers and retrain ASAP.
