Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on standard:
1) 560J: tables shall be sanitized before and after each use for feeding. "Sanitized" means treated in such a way to remove bacteria and viruses from inanimate surfaces through using a disinfectant solution (i.e. bleach water). The surface of the item is sprayed with the disinfectant solution and allowed to air dry on the surface for a minimum of two minutes.
2) 560M: no child shall be allowed to drink while walking around
3) Discussed providing water, or something to drink, along with snack as a best-practice

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 3:45 - 4:30 pm with staff. There were 34 children, ranging from five years to 12 years of age, present with three staff supervising. Children were observed washing their hands preparing for snack, eating snack and playing with age-appropriate toys. Snack served today: cheese sticks and crackers. Three onsite staff records were reviewed at the time of the inspection and their off site records were reviewed at the Massad YMCA on 8/31/2022. It was reported that there was no medication on site but there are two staff with current certification in Medication Administration Training (MAT). The emergency drill log, daily attendance, written list of food allergies, sensitivities and dietary preferences, fire and health inspections were reviewed and in compliance.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-70
Description: Based on a review of on site documentation, it was determined that not all required information was available for all staff. Evidence: Staff #2 and staff #3 did not have documentation of a name, address and phone number to be notified in an emergency.

Plan of Correction: Ensure all staff documentation is at location.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-500-A
Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to ensure that all handwashing procedures were followed as required. Evidence: Children did not wash their hands with soap and water or disposable wipes after eating snack.

Plan of Correction: Ensure all children wash hands before and after snack.
