Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted today, September 7th, 2022. There were 98 children present with 20 staff supervising. The physical plant, children's records, staff records, emergency preparedness procedures, evacuation logs, menu's, the first aid kit and medications and authorizations were reviewed. The children were observed, hand washing, during diaper change, working in small groups and playing with floor and table toys. Areas of non-compliance were cited on the violation notice. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A
Description: Based on observation of the center, one area of the center was not maintained in a safe and operable condition.
Evidence:
In classroom 1B - Infant Room B, there was not an operable thermometer located in the I refrigerator .

Plan of Correction: I will provide a thermometer fore the 1-B infant classroom refrigerator.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence:
In the boy's bathroom there Sani Cloths and Purell Surface sanitizer (both marked - "Keep out of reach of children) on an open shelf.

Plan of Correction: These items were moved to a locking cabinet during the inspections.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-570-E
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that infant formula shall be dated and labeled with the child's name.

Evidence:
In classroom 1A, one bottle on the counter was not labeled with name or date and two bottles in the refrigerator were labeled with name, but no date and one bottle in the refrigerator had no name and no date.
In classroom 1B, food in the refrigerator was labeled with a name, but no date

Plan of Correction: I will send a reminder to parents that all infant food must be labeled with a name and dated. I will also remind teachers, that if parent's forget, the items shall be labeled by staff.
