An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted beginning at 10:25 a.m. and ending at 12:15 p.m. with the director and two staff. There were 18 children in care ages 18 months through 5 years old with three staff supervising. Children were observed during arts and crafts, preparing for lunch and during lunch. Lunch today was delivery chicken pizza, side salad with ranch, applesauce and milk.
Four staff records including staff training hours and six children's records were reviewed. A complete first aid kit, battery operated radio and flashlight are available. Emergency drills were reviewed. Liability insurance is up to date.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-270-A Description: Based on observation, not all areas of the center were maintained in safe condition. Evidence: On the playground, there is a beige little tikes brand truck climber toy. It has a large approximately 12 inch long crack inside the rear climbing interior that causes a scratch and entanglement hazard. Plan of Correction: Not available online. Standard #: 8VAC20-780-530-A Description: Based on review of documentation it was determined that there was not at least one staff in each classroom where children are present that is certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training that includes an in-person competency demonstration. Evidence: Staff #2 and Staff #3 completed CPR training that required the successful completion of an exam but did not include the required in-person skills training.
