An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 10/17/2022. There were 57 children, ages 4 months-4years and 15 staff present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, environment and equipment, care of children, preventing the spread of disease, emergencies and nutrition. Medications for children were observed during the inspection. A total of 5 children?s records, 5 staff records and 6 medications were reviewed. The children were observed during circle time, center time and lunch. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 9:45am and departed the center at 11:37am.
Discussion on standard for annual fire inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: The lower middle cabinet in the toddler room was unlocked and had cleaning materials inside.Plan of Correction: Provider will ensure locking mechanism is installed.
