Technical assistance was provided in the areas of child records and staff TB tests.
- Comments:

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted 10/27/2022 from 9:45am through 11:50am. There were 64 children directly supervised by 11 staff and all classrooms were in ratio. The physical plant, outdoor playground area, programming, menus, 5 staff records, 6 children?s records, 11 medications, emergency drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed eating morning snack which consisted of bagels, jelly, and milk, participating in center play, reading books, doing puzzles, participating in circle time, singing songs, and completing Halloween activities. Positive interactions between children and staff were observed during this inspection. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials for the children and the center was clean and organized. There was an adequate number of CPR/First Aid, Daily Health Observation, and MAT trained staff on site at the time of inspection. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2 Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff submit to a fingerprint-based national criminal history background check prior to hire.
Evidence: Staff #2 (Date of Hire: 5/13/2022) had fingerprinting results on file dated 5/23/2022.Plan of Correction: Completed
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-A Description: Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 calendar days of employment.
Evidence: Staff #1 (Date of Hire: 8/26/15), Staff #2 (5/13/22), Staff #3 (Date of Hire: 1/16/14), and Staff #4 (Date of Hire: 6/13/22) did not have the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course, Preservice Training, completed within 90 calendar days of employment.Plan of Correction: Wasn't aware staff needed this particular training. Now that I'm aware will be sure to have everyone complete on time.
