Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on November 1, 2022 at approximately 3:35 PM to 5:40 PM. There were 40 children present with six staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Description: Based on record review and interview, the vendor failed to ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Evidence:
1. The record for staff #1, staff #2, staff #3, and staff #5, did not have documentation of the 10-hour Virginia Preservice Training.
2. Administrative staff confirmed that staff #1, staff #2, staff #3, and staff #5 did not complete the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.
