Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on December 13, 2022. There were fifteen children present, with two staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of three child records and two staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-L
Description: Based on observation, program failed to ensure that medication is kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access to children.

Evidence:
1. Medication for Child #1M was in an unlocked container. There was a key nearby, but no lock.
2. Staff #1 confirmed that the lock had broken about two months prior and had requested a replacement from home office.

Plan of Correction: New locking medication container placed in classroom
