Comments:
An unannounced complaint inspection was initiated together with licensing inspector Morgan Bryson on 1/12/23 from 10:00am to 1:30pm in response to a complaint received in the licensing office regarding forbidden actions by a staff members, supervision and ratios, and nutrition concerns. There were 83 children ages 3 months to age 4 years old supervised by 16 staff. Interviews were conducted with staff, policies and procedures were reviewed, all classrooms were observed, and documentation was viewed. Children were observed participating in art activities, floor play and table activities. Lunch was being served during inspection and included meatballs, rice, pears, peas and milk. Based on the preponderance of evidence collected throughout the investigation, the complaints regarding forbidden actions and nutrition were determined to be invalid. The complaint regarding supervision and ratios was determined to be valid. A citation was issued as a result of the findings of the complaint investigation. Another unrelated citation was discovered during the inspection. The exit interview was conducted on 1/31/23 with a manager. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact the Licensing Inspector, Angela Dudek at angela.dudek@doe.virginia.gov.
