8VAC20-790 SUBSIDY REGULATIONS

An initial Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, to determine the center's compliance with subsidy standards. The inspection began at 3:40pm and concluded at 5:10pm. The center's director was available throughout the inspection. The census for today's inspection consisted of 14 children in care and 3 staff supervising. During the tour, the inspector observed the children eating dinner, completing homework, and interacting with peers and staff. The inspector inspected the inside and outside play area. Staff was observed interacting with children in a positive manner and the inspector interviewed staff and children when time allowed. The required postings were inspected and found to be in compliance. Liability insurance, health inspection, and drills were all in compliance. There were five children's and 3 staff records reviewed. Staff records were reviewed remotely.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. No violations of the supplemental subsidy health and safety requirements were found.
