A renewal inspection was conducted on 2/27/2023 with the center director and staff. There were 11 children present, ranging in ages from 5 years to 12 years, with 2 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and 1 staff record were reviewed. Staff file received electronically 2/28/2023. The children were playing outside, having afternoon snack, and working on homework.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-A Description: Based on review of two staff files and staff interview, the facility failed to have each staff complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course (VA Preservice) within 90 days of employment. Evidence: Staff 1 (date of employment 9/26/2022) did not have documentation of the VA Preservice course on file. Plan of Correction: All staff will complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 days of employment.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-J Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to sanitize tables before and after each use for feeding. Sanitize is defined as " the surface of the item is sprayed or dipped into the disinfectant solution and allowed to air dry on the surface for a minimum of two minutes or according to the disinfectant solution instructions." Evidence: the tables were wiped with a disinfecting wipe before and after the children had snack. Plan of Correction: Staff will use a spray sanitizing solution and allow the product to air dry.
