Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 2/28/2023 and concluded with an electronic record review on 3/10/2023. There were 16 children, ages 4 years- 9 years, and 4 staff members present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, staffing and supervision, physical plant, programs, emergencies and nutrition. The children were observed during mealtime, self-directed, and self-chosen tasks. A total of 5 children?s records, 4 staff records, and 2 medications were reviewed. The inspector discussed the following with the staff: medication, attendance and emergency supplies. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 2:45 pm and departed at 4:00 pm.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to provider.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-560-J
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to sure that tables shall be sanitized before and after each use for feeding.
Evidence: Children were observed eating afternoon snack, washing their hands and then returning to the same tables for various activities. The tables were not sanitized in between snack and various activities.

Plan of Correction: Staff will sanitize tables before and after meals.
