Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today at 3:30pm. There were 24 children directly supervised by 3 staff. The physical plant, 3 staff records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. No medications were on site today.
Children were observed participating in group play and playing games. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, hazardous substances were not kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
An unlocked cabinet under the classroom sink contained chemical cleaning and disinfectant supplies. The key to the cabinet was observed in the lock.

Plan of Correction: A staff member locked the cabinet and removed the key immediately.
