A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 4/28/2023. There were 57 children present with 4 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 11:00 am and concluded at 1:20 pm.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B Description: Based on observation, the licensee does not always ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence:
The licensing inspector observed spray bottles of sanitizing spray sitting out in the open and accessible to children in care in the following locations:
Studio A - on a small open shelf at a height of about 4 feet.
Cycling Studio - on a small open shelf at a height of about 4 feet.
Studio B - on a small open shelf at a height of about 4 feet. and on a window sill at a height of about 5 feet.
The spray bottles contained a label warning "Keep out of reach of children" and additional warnings.Plan of Correction: The Program Director stated that the bottles of cleaning solution would be removed and that she will discuss with the staff a procedure for ensuring that the bottles are placed in a secure location while children are utilizing the space and replaced again once the space is no longer being utilized by the program.
