Daily activities for school age children shall include an opportunity for large motor activities. Discussed the importance of taking children outside to meet this standard when weather is appropriate, rather than only using the indoor gymnasium.

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 4:30 - 5:00 pm with staff. There were ten children, ranging from five years to ten years of age, present with two staff supervising. Children were observed eating snack, washing hands and going to the gym to play. Two onsite staff records and three onsite child records were reviewed at the time of the inspection along with the daily attendance record, emergency drill log, written list of food allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions, four medications and the required posted information. One staff member on site has current Medication Administration Training (MAT) certification. Two staff records were reviewed off site at the YMCA office on 5/4/2023.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-40-M Description: Based on review of documentation, and an interview with staff, the facility failed to maintain a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities and dietary restrictions that is dated, kept confidential, and in each room or area where children are present. Long term prescription drug use and over-the-counter medication may be allowed with written authorization from the child's physician and parent.
