Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was initiated on 5/22/2023 and concluded on 5/25/2023.? There were 20 children present with 3 staff supervising. Children were observed at check in time, bathroom break/washing hands, and snack time. A total of 5 child records and 3 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 3:40 pm and concluded at 4:40 pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the licensee did not ensure hazardous substances and other harmful agents such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: As confirmed by staff #1, there was a bottle of Betco disinfectant on a table next to the parent table. The bottle was labeled "keep out of reach of children" and "caution".

Plan of Correction: Check the area prior to children walking in, if present put the bottle in the locked closet; communicate with custodians to put disinfectant away.
