Comments:

A monitoring inspection was initiated on 6/21/23 and concluded on 6/21/23. There were 20 children present with 6 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child records and 5 staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:00am and concluded at 10:45am. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #:	8VAC20-780-510-E
Description:	Based on review of medications and discussions with administration the center failed to ensure that medications were not expired. Evidence: The epi-pen for Child B had expired as of 5/23 and was still in the emergency medication box along with the child's current authorization to administer.
Plan of Correction:	The parents had already been contacted requesting a new epi-pen, but one had not been provided to date. The medication was removed from the medication box during the inspection and the expired medication will be sent home today.
