Technical Assistance:
1. Immediately address repeat violations and put a system in place to ensure ongoing compliance;
2. Reviewed with the administrative staff the expectations with maintaining an accurate attendance in each classroom at all times;
3. Discussed care, protection and guidance and the need to immediately address issues that may arise that affects a child overall care.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today with the director and administrative staff from1:30 pm to 3:25 pm. Thirteen children were present with 4 staff providing supervision. Th ages of the children ranged from 10 months to 5 years. Six staff files were reviewed.
Per the center's request, the Licensing Inspector remeasured the Montessori classroom and the 2/3 year old classroom. The areas of non compliance are outlined on the violation notice.

Description: Based on observation, it was determined that the most recent findings from the last inspection was not posted in a conspicuous place.

The results from the February 2023 inspection was not posted.

Description: Based on a review of recordkeeping and interviews, it was determined that the center did not have a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy.
Evidence:
Child B has a diagnosed allergy to milk and soy products. The center did not have an allergy care plan on file.

Description: Based on a review of 6 staff files and interview with the administrative staff, it was determined that the VDOE sponsored orientation course was not completed within 90 calendar days of employment.

Staff A was hired in 2021 and has not completed the orientation course.

Description: Based on observation it was determined that hazardous substances were not kept locked to prevent access by children.
Evidence:
1. The Licensing Inspector (LI) observed an open and unlocked closet in the 3 to 6 year old Montessori classroom. The LI observed a bottle of disinfectant spray on a shelf.
2. The LI observed In the bathroom next to the 3 to 6 year old Montessori classrooma disinfectant spay on top of the wall mounted diaper station. The spray was unlocked and accessible to children.

Description: Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the center failed to ensure all children's care, protection, and guidance.
Evidence:
Child A has an allergy to nuts and eggs. The center was given an Epinephrine for child A. The center misplaced the Epinephrine sometime yesterday, 6/12/23 and failed to take any steps to notify the parents and obtain an additional Epinephrine. It wasn't until this LI pointed out the need to notify the parents and to obtain an additional Epinephrine for child A did the center contact the parents during the inspection on 6/13/23.
