An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between the hours of 10:50 and 2pm. There were 95 children directly supervised by 21 staff. The physical plant, 6 staff records, 8 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, and emergency supplies were inspected. Children were observed engaging in free play, using a sensory table and completing puzzles. One classroom was observed during craft time making an octopus for their letter of the week "O". Children were also observed during story time and music class. There was an assortment of age appropriate materials for the children in care. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-240-E Description: Based on record review, 2 of 6 staff did not complete orientation training in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) within 30 days of the first day of employment.
Evidence:
1. Staff #1 began employment on 12/19/2022. The record for Staff #1 did not contain documentation of orientation training in first aid and CPR.
2. Staff #4 began employment on 2/5/2023. The record for Staff #4 did not contain documentation of orientation training in first aid and CPR.Plan of Correction: First aid and CPR orientation will be completed with staff today.
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-550-G Description: Based on record review and staff interview, documentation of a lockdown drill was not maintained.
Evidence:
1. There was no documentation of a practiced lockdown drill for 2022.
2. Staff reported completing a lockdown drill "recently" due to reported incidents of violence in the area but did not document the drill when it occurred.Plan of Correction: The lockdown drill will be documented.
