An unannounced renewal inspection was initiated on September 12, 2023 and concluded on September 27, 2023. There were 22 children ages 18months through four years old with eight staff and administrators. Children and staff records were requested and reviewed digitally. Children were observed in teacher and self-directed activities. A walking tour of the center's facilities were observed inside and outside. Additionally, practice emergency evacuation documentation, emergency postings/evacuation routes, required postings, fire and health inspections, medication, first aid kit and emergency equipment were reviewed. Violations were observed in the areas of medication, equipment and resilient surface. These violations appear on the violation notice and were discussed with provider at the conclusion of the inspection.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P Description: Based observation and interview the center failed to ensure that medications that are not picked up by the parent within 14 days will be disposed of by the center by either dissolving the medication down the sink or flushing it down the toilet.
