8VAC20-790 Subsidy Regulations.

A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 12/4/2023 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. There were 121 children present with 26 staff supervising.
A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1 Description: Based on a review of 10 staff records and interview, the vendor did not ensure that two staff had current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care within 90 days of employment as required.
Evidence:
1. The record of staff #1 (date of employment: 8/21/2023) did not contain documentation of a current CPR certification. The record of staff #3 (date of employment: 8/17/2023) did not contain documentation of a current CPR certification.
2. The vendor acknowledged that the staff were not CPR certified.Plan of Correction: Staff #1 had completed her first aid and cpr on 9/19/2023 but had failed to give me her certificate. Staff #3 completed her cpr on 12/5/2023. Going forward I will maintain a system to track trainings to ensure they are done on time.
