Comments:
A monitoring inspection was conducted on Monday, January 29, 2024. The inspection began at approximately 10:20am and concluded at 12:00pm. The inspector observed the children preparing for lunch and handwashing. Lunch included Beefaroni, green beans, mixed fruit, and milk. There were 24 children present, ranging in ages from 5 months to 5 years, with 6 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, staff qualifications and trainings, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programs, special care provisions and emergencies and special services. A total of 5 children?s records and 5 staff records were reviewed.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-60-A-8
Description: Based on a review of children record, medication authorization and medication, a written care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy has not been obtained from the physician.

Evidence:
Child #2 (enrollment date 9/5/2023), has an epi pen for food allergies, the parent has not provided a written care plan from the physician to include instructions regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to take in an event of an allergic reaction.

Plan of Correction: Reached out to parents in regards to brining in the form.
