Comments:
A subsidy health and safety (SHSI) inspection was initiated on 06/28/2023 and concluded on 06/28/2023. There were 27 children present with 9 staff supervising. A licensing inspection was also conducted on this date. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection.

Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-D-1
Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children have current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the ages of children in care.

Evidence:
1. The record of Staff 1 had documentation of cardiopulmonary resuscitation that expired in October 2022. Staff 1 was working directly with children on date of inspection.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure that the staff member gets trained in CPR this evening. I will make sure that all staff have current CPR when they are working directly with the children.

Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall have current certification in first aid appropriate to the ages of children in care.

Evidence:
1. The record for Staff 1 had documentation of first aid certification that expired in October 2022. Staff 1 was working directly with children on date of inspection.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure the staff member gets trained in First Aid this evening. I will also make sure that all staff that work directly with children are current in First Aid.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-600-F
Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that all employees completed the department's annual health and safety update course.

Evidence:
1. The record of Staff 1 did not have documentation of the department's 3 hour annual health and safety update course for 2022.

Plan of Correction: I will make sure that all the staff members complete the 3 hour annual update.
