The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced complaint inspection in response to a complaint that was received by the licensing department on 05/23/2019 regarding staff to child ratios. The inspection was initiated and completed on 06/18/2019. On 06/18/2019, the inspector was on site from approximately 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM. Interviews with staff were completed, observations were made in the center, and documentation was reviewed. The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation does support the allegation; therefore, the complaint is determined to be valid. See the violation notice for additional details. Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-A-3-b Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on an observation and interview, the center did not ensure that the ratio of one staff member for every 10 children from ages twenty-four months to six years was met.
Evidence:
During the inspection, Staff #1 was observed caring for 13 children, four and five years of age. Staff #2 stated she thought the required staff to child ratio was one staff for every 15 children for the four and five year old children. The ratio required was one staff member for every 10 children from ages twenty-four months to six years present.Plan of Correction: Once learning the required staff to child ratio, an additional staff member was sent to the classroom.
