8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day homes

An in-person initial subsidy inspection was initiated by licensing staff and concluded on October 3, 2023, between the hours of 9:40am to 10:40am. There were three children in care and no children living in the home under the age of 12 present with the vendor. The inspector reviewed three children?s records and three adult/household member records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.
Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and violations were documented on the Violation Notice issued to the vendor.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-180-B Description: Based on documentation review and interview, the vendor did not maintain a written hard copy of the daily attendance that documents the arrival and departure of each child in care as it occurs.
Evidence:
1. The vendor had three children in care. There was no documentation of daily attendance.
2. The vendor confirmed that daily attendance has not been taken on a daily basis.Plan of Correction: The vendor will use the model the county's model attendance forms and begin the record daily attendance for the children in care.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-410-B-2 Description: Based on observation and interview, the vendor did not have all required nonmedical emergency supplies.
Evidence:
1. The vendor did not have one working battery operated radio.
2. The vendor confirmed that there was not a working battery operated radio in the home.Plan of Correction: The vendor will purchase a battery operated radio.
Standard #: 8VAC20-790-430-B Description: Based on documentation review and interview, the vendor did not maintain a record of the dates of the practice drills for one year.
Evidence:
1. The vendor did not have documentation of a record of the dates of practice evacuation drills.
2. The vendor confirmed that documentation of emergency evacuation drills were not maintained.Plan of Correction: The vendor will use the county's model form for documentation of emergency evacuation drills and document each drill.
