An unannounced "Code of Virginia Section 63.2-1716" compliance monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. 21 children, ages 2 1/2 years through 4 years old, were under the care and supervision of 4 staff. Center documents and 5 staff records were reviewed. Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-2 Description: Based on review of documentation, the center did not to ensure that satisfactory central registry background checks were obtained with 30 days of employment. Evidence: Staff B, start date 1/2013 and Staff C, start date 8/2013 most recent central registry background checks were dated 8/29/2013. Staff D, start date 8/2017 and Staff E, start 2/2019 did not have documentation of a central registry background check results in the record. Plan of Correction: The center believed that the fingerprint background checks replaced the Virginia State police and central registry check. The center was in the process of requesting the central registry background checks prior to the inspection. The central registry requests will be sent out by the end of this week.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-A-6 Description: Based on review of documentation and interview with staff, the center did not provide written disclosure of required information to the guardians of the children in the center and general public. Evidence: There was no written statement regarding the physical facility, enrollment capacity, food services, health requirement and public liability insurance accessible to the general public. Plan of Correction: The center will complete a public disclosure statement and post it in an area accessible to the general public.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on a review of documentation and staff interview, the center did not ensure that an out-of-state child abuse and neglect search was conducted for all staff within 45 days of employment. Evidence: Staff E, start 2/5/19 did not have an out-of-state child abuse and neglect search conducted. Plan of Correction: The center will conducted the out of state child abuse and neglect search for the staff as soon as possible.
