8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

An announced Initial Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection (SHSI) was conducted with the provider on 1/26/23 from 9:45am to 10:45am. There were no children in care during the inspection, but the provider reported that two children are currently enrolled. A home walk-through was conducted and the daycare area, supplies, required postings, and age-appropriate toys were observed. Two child records, the provider record, and one household member record were reviewed. The first aid kit, battery-operated weather-band radio, battery-operated flashlight, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and carbon monoxide detectors were observed. The Licensing Inspector and the provider discussed policies and procedures for the care of children since no children were present. The provider understands that she may only care for up to four children at a time without a license. Please complete the "Plan of Correction" and "Date to be Corrected" areas on the Violation Notice for each violation cited and return to me by close of business on 1/31/23. Standard #: 8VAC20-790-230-A Description: Based on review of two child records, the provider did not obtain documentation that children had been adequately immunized before attending the family day home. Evidence: The records for Child A and Child B did not contain documentation of immunizations. The provider stated that the children have been enrolled since they were born in March 2020 and October 2022. Plan of Correction: I requested paperwork (Immunizations) for the children from the Parent, and they returned the paperwork (Immunizations) on 1/27/2023 along with Physical.
