Remember that all background checks (sworn statement or affirmation, fingerprints and search of the central registry) must be updated every five years.

Licensing Inspector arrived at 10:30 and departed at 11:45 AM to conduct a religiously exempt code compliance inspection. At the time of the inspection, there were 63 children (ages 18 months - preschool) in care with 12 staff. There was also a private Kindergarten class in care that is not a part of the exemption. Children were observed having free play, doing circle time activities and having library time. The sample size was 25 staff members.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-2 Description: Based on review of 25 staff records, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that all staff had a completed search of the central registry (CPS check) on file.
Evidence:
The following staff did not have completed search of the central registry on file: staff #6, staff #7, staff #8, staff #11, staff #13, staff #14, staff #15, staff #16, staff #18, staff #21, staff #22, staff #23, and staff #24.Plan of Correction: Center management will ensure that all CPS checks are submitted and when results are received, they will be placed in records.
Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-3 Description: Based on review of 25 staff records, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that staff who had lived outside of Virginia in the past five years, had completed search of the central registry in those states completed.
Evidence:
The following staff have lived outside of the state of Virginia in the past five years, did not have out-of-state search of the central registries: staff #12 (Illinois), staff #13 (Georgia & Texas), and staff #19 (California & South Carolina)Plan of Correction: All out-of-state searches of the central registry will be submitted and when results are received, they will be placed in records.
