Comments:
A compliance inspection to monitor the requirements for Religiously Exempt Child Day Centers was conducted on January 23, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m.
At the time of arrival the following staff to child ratios were observed:
10 children, four years old, with 1 staff
5 children, three years old, with 1 staff
A third staff was observed assisting as needed in both groups.
Classroom observations were made and children were observed having an afternoon snack which they bring from home daily. In addition, children were observed being read to from children's literature, engaged in individual activities at their tables and playing outdoors. Hand washing and restroom procedures were also observed. All (3) staff records were reviewed, posted information was reviewed, the Parent Handbook was reviewed and the center program director was interviewed regarding center policies and procedures. The facility, to include all indoor areas used by children in care, as well as the outdoor play space, were inspected.
Staff report that the program does not transport children in a vehicle while they are in care. However, when attending occasional planned outings as a group, they children's parents attend with them and transport their children.
Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance.
