All staff working in a childcare setting are mandated reporters, should be periodically trained on recognizing abuse and neglect and are required by law to report suspected abuse and neglect to the Department immediately.

An unannounced complaint inspection was conducted on site at the center on 2/26/2020 in response to several complaints that were received in the licensing office on 1/27/2020,1/30/2020 and 2/11/2020. The complaint allegations were similar and were with regard to alleged noncompliance of The Code of Virginia requirements for Child day centers operated by a religious institution exempt from licensure. Addition allegations were received during interviews conducted between 2/26/2020 and 4/27/2020. A total of 20 private / individual interviews were conducted during this time frame. On 2/26/2020 all classrooms were inspected and informal interviews of staff in each room were conducted. All areas of the facility utilized by children in care as well as the kitchen and outdoor play areas were viewed. Based on the information gathered, there was not sufficient evidence to support the allegations, so the complaint is found to be not valid. There are no violations resulting from this complaint investigation.
