This annual subsidy inspection was conducted by the inspector using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency declared by the Governor of Virginia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Preliminary data was obtained from the vendor on July 21, 2020.
An annual subsidy inspection was initiated on July 22, 2020, at which time the vendor was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection, and concluded on July 22, 2020. The inspector emailed the vendor a list of items required to complete the inspection.
The vendor reported there were 13 children in care and six staff. The inspector reviewed two children?s records and two staff records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.

Standard #: 22VAC40-665-530-2-d Description: Based on review of two staff records and interview, the vendor did not obtain documentation that background checks were completed within 30 days of beginning employment for one staff member.
Evidence:
1. The record for Staff #2 contained a sworn statement dated 6/23/2020, an eligibility letter from a national fingerprint based criminal record search dated 6/23/2020 and a central registry finding dated 7/16/2020. The documented hire date for Staff #1 is 3/23/2020.
2. Staff #1 confirmed this information during the remote inspection.Plan of Correction: I was late requesting the background checks. I will make sure I have the background checks in the future.
