This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A code compliance inspection was initiated on 02/08/2021 and concluded on 02/10/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 16 children present and 2 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-2 Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to have a search of the central registry background check on a staff.
Evidence:
1. The inspector reviewed two staff records. One of two records reviewed (staff record #1) did not have results of a search of the central registry. Staff #1's date of employment was 12/03/2020.Plan of Correction: This violation was issued after being misinformed about the requirement for substitutes to have a central registry check. It was my understanding that only teachers needed the central registry check and fingerprints and that substitutes only needed the fingerprints. I have contacted our substitutes and informed them of this. We will make our best attempt to have this issue resolved by February 25, 2021.
