This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A code compliance inspection was initiated on March 2, 2021 and concluded on March 3, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 22 children present and 3 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1720.1-B-4 Description: Based on record review of 2 staff records and provider interviews, the provider did not ensure to obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check and sex offender registry check from any state in which the staff has resided in the preceding five years before reporting to work in the center.
Evidence: Staff #2 did not have a sex offender registry or criminal records check in the state where they had lived in the last five years (South Carolina). Staff #2 was working during the inspection. Center director confirmed both of the checks had not yet been conducted.Plan of Correction: Criminal record check from South Carolina is attached (acquired from interstate criminal background check contact chart). Sex offender registry for South Carolina showed no offender found by the name of Staff #2.
