This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A code compliance inspection was initiated on 3/22/2021 and concluded on 3/23/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 53 children present and 8 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-2 Description: Based on record review & discussion with the Director, the center failed to ensure every employee, volunteer, or any other person who is expected to be alone with one or more children enrolled in the religious exempt child day center completes a Background Check (search of central registry) within 30 days of employment.
EVIDENCE:
The Licensing Inspector reviewed 5 staff records. 5 out of 5 staff records did not include documentation of a completed Central Registry Background Check.Plan of Correction: The center must send documentation to the Licensing Inspector that the background checks have been requested no later than 10 days following this notification date (3/23/2021)
