Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A code compliance inspection was initiated on 06/15/2021 and concluded on 06/16/2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 22 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable code sections and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-2
Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to obtain the results for the search of the central registry.

Evidence:

1. The inspector reviewed three staff records. Staff record #1 and staff record #3 did not have results of the search of the central registry on file and both staff have been employed for more than 30 days. Staff #1's date of employment was 05/11/2021 and staff #3's date of employment was 08/21/2020.

Plan of Correction: The director said the search of the central registry requests were submitted yesterday for both staff #1 and staff #3. Once the results are obtained, copies will be sent to the licensing office.

Description: Based on record reviews, the center failed to have staff obtain fingerprint-based criminal history checks prior to the first day of employment.

Evidence:

1. The inspector reviewed three staff records. Staff record #1 and staff record #2 did not contained the results for fingerprint-based criminal history checks. Both staff are currently working in the classrooms.

Plan of Correction: Staff #1 and staff #2 completed their fingerprint checks yesterday. As soon as the results are obtained, copies will be sent to the licensing office.
