This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A complaint inspection was conducted on 06/23/2021 in response to an allegation that staff-to-child ratios were not being maintained in the infant room on 05/18/2021.
Based on the information gathered this complaint is found to be valid and a violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 63.2(17)-1716-A-3-a Complaint related: No Description: Based on record review and interview, the religiously exempt child day center failed to employ supervisory personnel according to the following ratio of staff to children:
*1 to 4, 0 to 16 months.
Evidence:
1. Written attendance documentation for 05/18/2021 indicated 2 staff for 9 infants from 1:40 pm until 3:08 pm.
a. 3 staff were needed.
2. Administrative staff provided the attendance sheet for 05/18/2021 and confirmed the accuracy of the attendance sheet.Plan of Correction: Administrative staff stated that the facility is generally over ratio with too many staff. Generally, administrative staff will assist in a classroom when needed and a floating teacher is available as well. Staff are crossed trained in order to be able to assist in any classroom.
Administrative staff indicated that this issue will be researched to ascertain why the class was not adaquately staff during this time.
A system will be put in place to ensure sufficient staffing at all times.
