An unannounced code compliance inspection was initiated on 10/6/2022 and concluded on 10/6/2022 from 9:10 AM to 10:15 AM. There were 20 children present, ranging in ages from two to five, with three staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, procedures and medication. A total of three children?s records and three staff?s records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2 Description: Based on record review and interview, the center failed to obtain fingerprint-based criminal history check determination letters prior to hire.
Evidence:
1. Staff 1's hire date was 2/24/21. The fingerprint-based criminal history check determination letters was dated 3/5/21.
2. Staff 2's hire date was 7/27/21. The fingerprint-based criminal history check determination letters was dated 8/2/21.
3. Staff 1's hire date was 6/30/21. The fingerprint-based criminal history check determination letters was dated 7/1/21.
4. The director stated she thought the requirement was they could not start working until the fingerprint-based criminal history check determination letters was received. None of the three staff started working until the letter was received.Plan of Correction: In the future no staff will be hired until the fingerprint-based criminal history check determination letters is received.
