An unannounced code compliance visit and facility tour was conducted on 12/13/2022. At the time of inspectors' arrival there were 25 preschool aged children in care with 4 staff members and 3 administrators. Children were observed interacting with staff and engaging in educational activities. A sample of 5 children's records and 8 staff records were reviewed. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the violation notice and were discussed with the director in an exit meeting at the conclusion of this inspection.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A Description: Based on record review and interview it was determined the center did not ensure that all staff undergo a background check in accordance with subsection B prior to employment or beginning to serve as a volunteer and every five years thereafter.
Evidence:
1. The records for staff #1 and staff #7 did not contain documentation of updated Central Registry Search results. The documentation available was dated 10/28/16 for both staff members.
2. Staff confirmed updated documentation was not available during this inspection.Plan of Correction: Staff will request updated Central Registry searches for both staff.
