A Code compliance monitoring inspection was initiated on 3/10/2023 and concluded on 3/10/2023. There were 23 children present with seven staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of two staff records were reviewed. The inspection started at 9:45 am and concluded at 11:35 am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 22.1-289.031-A-9 Description: Based on observation and interviews the center failed to be in compliance with all safe sleep guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. Safe sleep guidelines state that an infant is to be placed on their back (supine) when placed in a crib. When an infant is able to easily turn over from the back to the belly (prone) position, still place on back and allow the infant to adopt to whatever position is preferred. This applies unless otherwise directed by the infant's physician in writing.
Evidence:
A six month old was placed on it's stomach in the crib to sleep.Plan of Correction: The director will ensure that all staff know to place an infant on their back when placed in a crib.
Standard #: 22.1-289.031-B-5 Description: Based on observation the center failed to ensure that all areas of the premises accessible to children are free of obvious injury hazards.
Evidence:
Located in the bathroom in the two year old class on the sink was a bottle of bleach water. This bathroom is used by the children.Plan of Correction: The bleach water was placed in an area inaccessible to the children, locked.
