A review of the procedures for the exclusion of staff and and of children when either are exhibiting symptoms of illness, to include specific written instructions for what staff should do if they are unexpectedly ill, may help clarify expectations and understanding.
This document might include what sort of documentation or action is necessary for a staff person to legitimately call out sick for the safety and well-being of the children and other staff in the center, since working with groups of young children inherently exposes staff to various illnesses.

A complaint inspection was initiated on 8/8/2023 in response to a complaint that was received by the department on 7/21/2023, regarding Code of Virginia compliance for Religious Exempt Child Day Centers. The inspection included review of the establishment and implementation of the program's procedures for supervision of children and daily health screening of children. An unannounced on-site inspection including observations of the infant classroom (one infant class, combined on this date) and interviews of classroom staff and administrative staff was conducted on 8/11/2023 from 3:40 p.m. to 4:15 pm. Documentation, to include Attendance Policies, and Student Health Policies were collected on 8/11/2023 and reviewed off site.
The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued. There was not sufficient evidence to validate the allegations, therefore, the complaint was determined to be "Not Valid".
