An unannounced Code Compliance inspection was conducted with the Director on 10/3/23 from 9:15am to 10:10am. There were seven children in care, ranging in age from three-years to four-years-old, supervised by three staff. One staff left during the inspection. Children were observed participating in an outside circle time, practicing building cup towers, and transitioning to outdoor play. The required postings were observed. Four child and three staff records were reviewed for required documentation. The program met the requirement for staff on-site with current CPR/First Aid training. Standard #: 22.1-289.031-B-3 Description: Based on interview, the program did not ensure that a daily simple health screening and exclusion of sick children was conducted by a person trained to perform such screening. Evidence: The director reported that none of the staff have completed Daily Health Observation training. Plan of Correction: The Director is completing the training on 10/5/2023.
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2 Description: Based on review of three staff records, the program did not obtain the results of a national, fingerprint-based criminal history record check prior to the first day of employment for two staff. Evidence: The records for Staff #1 and Staff #3, with employment dates of August 2022, did not contain fingerprint results. Plan of Correction: Staff #1 completed fingerprints and results were submitted to the Inspector on 10/4/23. Staff #3 completed fingerprints on 10/4/23 and results will be scanned once received.
Standard #: 8VAC20-770-40-D-2 Description: Based on review of three staff records, the program did not obtain sworn disclosure statements from staff prior to the first day of employment. Evidence: The records for Staff #2, with an employment date of August 2023, and Staff #2, with an employment date of August 2022, did not contain sworn disclosure statements. Plan of Correction: Staff completed sworn disclosure statements on 10/3/2023.
