Comments:
An announced initial inspection was completed on May 15, 2019 from approximately 10:00a.m. to 12:15p.m. Two caregiver's records, the emergency preparedness and response plan, pet records and required postings were reviewed. The physical environment, play equipment and materials, nutrition, transportation and the home?s first aid and emergency supplies were inspected. There capacity will be nine, transportation will be provided when needed and medication will not be administered. The provider was available for interview, the inspection and the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed and an Acknowledgement of Inspection form was signed and left with the provider. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-730-D
Description: Based on interview, the licensee failed to keep medications in a locked space using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: 1. Caregiver #1 indicated that the medications in the home were kept unlocked in a drawer in the master bedroom.

Plan of Correction: The provider will purchase a lock box for medications and will immediately lock all medications kept in the home.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-940-B
Description: Based on observation, the licensee failed to have an operable thermometer available to monitor refrigerator and freezer compartment temperatures. Evidence: 1. The refrigerator and two freezers, used for food for children in care, were observed and no thermometers were present. 2. Caregiver #1 acknowledged she did not have thermometers.

Plan of Correction: The provider will purchase a thermometer for the two freezers and the fridge and begin using them to monitor the temperatures in each.
