Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on October 15, 2019 from approximately 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Five children were in care with two caregivers for a total of sixteen points. Caregivers and children were observed in the indoor space engaged in activities to include activities for infants, coloring, and nap time. Interviews and interactions were conducted and no medications are given. Five children?s records and two caregiver records were reviewed. The provider was available for the inspection and was present at the exit interview at which time inspection findings were reviewed.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-250-A
Description: Based on observation, the licensee failed to ensure that hanging items, including but not limited to window blind and appliance cords shall be out of reach of children.
Evidence: 1. Cords were observed hanging down from a television and an electric air freshener, in a room accessible to and used by children, under five years old. 2. Caregiver #1 acknowledged these cords are accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: The provider will remove the electric air freshener and will tie up and tack the television cords in a manner in which they are not able to be pulled by a child.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observation, the licensee failed to ensure that potentially poisonous substances such as cleaning products were stored in areas away from food and inaccessible to children.
Evidence: 1. A bottle of bleach, air freshener, and a Lysol cleaning product were observed, on the counter in the kitchen, a room used by and accessible to children. 2. Caregiver #1 acknowledged these products were not stored in an area inaccessible to children.

Plan of Correction: The provider will store these items in a locked cabinet under the sink.
