Technical Assistance:
Provided consultation on COVID-19 Guidance:
The Virginia Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI) approved an Emergency Temporary Standard that requires all staff in child care settings to wear cloth face coverings.

Pursuant to the Governor?s Executive Order 63, all children ages five and older are required to wear face coverings while indoors at child care programs. While not required, children ages two through four are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings while indoors, especially if children are in close contact. This is a best practice that will decrease the risk of COVID-19 transmission when children and caregivers are in close proximity.

Cloth face coverings should NOT be put on babies and children under age two because of the danger of suffocation. Cloth face coverings are NOT recommended for any child who is sleeping, has trouble breathing, or is unable to remove the cover without assistance.

Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A monitoring inspection was conducted on 12/8/2020. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were nine children present, ranging in age from 21 months to five years of age with two providers supervising. The Inspector reviewed two children's records, two provider records, the emergency drill log, medication, meals and snacks, naptime, enhanced cleaning and sanitizing of toys and surfaces, and daily indoor and outdoor activities. The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. If you have further questions about this inspection please contact Donna Liberman at 540-359-5244 or Donna.Liberman@dss.virginia.gov.
