Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

A initial inspection was initiated and concluded on 1/27/2021. The provider was contacted by video to initiate the inspection. There was no children in care during this inspection. A tour of the home and back yard were taken to look for any potential safety issues. Inspector reviewed applicable areas of the standards with the provider. The Inspector reviewed 1 provider record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation were reviewed prior to the inspection. The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-760-A
Description: Based on video tour and interview it was determined the provider did not have the required emergency supplies during this inspection.
Evidence:
The provider stated that they did not have a first aid kit available during this inspection.

Plan of Correction: Provider will purchase a first aid kit with the required supplies for the family day home.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-770
Description: Based on video observation an interview it was determined the provider did not have an emergency radio.
Evidence:
The provider stated that they could not find the battery operated radio during this inspection.

Plan of Correction: Provider will locate or purchase a battery operated radio.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-790
Description: Based on video observation and interview it was determined that the provider did not have the required emergency phone numbers posted.
Evidence:
Provider stated she did not have emergency numbers posted during this inspection.

Plan of Correction: Provider will post 911 or local dial number for police, fire, and emergency medical responders, the responsible person for emergency backup care, and the regional poison control center.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-240-A
Description: Based on video tour and interview it was determined the provider did not ensure that all areas and furnishings of the family day home, inside and outside, were maintained in a clean, safe, and operable condition.
Evidence:
The four section cubby shelf was not anchored to the wall, it would tip if pulled on.

Plan of Correction: Provider will anchor the cubby and any other furniture added to the family day home that poses a potential tip/crush hazard.
