Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.

An unannounced renewal inspection was initiated on February 22, 2021 and concluded on February 26, 2021.. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection and a virtual inspection began at 11:55 a.m. There were 11 children ages 11 months through 3 years of age for a total of 27 points with two caregivers. Children were observed cleaning up the soft play area and preparing for nap. A toddler was observed being put down for nap in the nap room. Childcare areas and supplies were observed. The inspector emailed the director/provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records, three staff records and one household member record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility

The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-210-A
Description: Based on review of documentation, it was determined that the provider did not have documentation of 16 hours of training for the license year. Evidence: For the 2019-2020 license year, there were10 hours of training documentation provided. Interview with the provider confirmed that 10 hours of training was completed during the license year due to the pandemic.

Plan of Correction: There were no options that I could find outside of daycare hours through the state. I did just complete the 8 he MAT course so 6 of those hours can go towards last year and I will make sure to get 14 more this year.
